A self-taught golf champion shares a wealth of information on technique and mechanics, with tips for players at all levels of expertise

I wrote the book, Natural Golf, with the late, great, pro-golfer, Severiano Ballesteros, to teach golfers how to swing a golf club “Seve’s Way,” by controlling the start-to-finish action with the right side – namely, the right hand, right forearm, and right hip – since this technique is far more suited to human nature than the left-sided swing golfers are still being taught to employ by almost all golf instructors, yet scores have not improved all that much in a century.
I also wrote Natural Golf with Seve to teach golfers how to learn the art of improvisation and enhance their shot-making skills and repertoire by hitting shots from varying lies with the only club, a 3-iron; Seve’s first and only club for years, before his brother Manuel gave him a five-iron then a full set of fourteen clubs.
This one-club education worked for me, too, since in a head-to-head match at the La Manga golf resort course in Alicante, Spain, Seve shot 74, on the par 74 layout, beating me by only three shots, with both of us shooting 36 on the front nine holes that we played last.
